Our Mission

The Chatham-Kent Integrated Children's Services Foundation promotes the opportunity for all children and youth of Chatham-Kent to mature in a stable environment that meets their emotional, physical and psychological needs. The Foundation accomplishes this by providing educational bursaries to foster children from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent; and/or by assisting the Chatham-Kent Children's Services in acheiving their goals as contained in their objectives and Mission Statement.

This fiscal year of 2010/2011, the CKICS Foundation Board is pleased to recognize 10 bursary winners; 9 regular bursaries of $1,000 each; and one "special" bursary that we will speak of later. The CKICS Foundation Board members are willing to work with all applicants knowing that not all bursaries will be used for tuition but may be used to purchase special tools for their specialized trades.

As mentioned above, a special bursary was created because of the generosityof a rural farm couple, Lucienne and Raymond Myers. The Myers, having adopted two children of their own, saw the great work that was being done by Chatham-Kent Children’s Services and decided to give back to this great organization by a bequest in their will. The CKICS Foundation has decided to commemorate their tremendous gift with a special yearly bursary in memory of the Myers Family. The bursary has been established in the amount of $2,500 and will go to the applicant whom the Foundation Board believes has overcome the greatest obstacles and exemplifies the desire to achieve.

The Annual General Meeting was held at Smitty's Restaurant on June 29, 2011. As a Board we thought what better way to celebrate and acknowledge the bursary winners than in a forum of community leaders and family. These young winners should be proud of their accomplishments and we as a community should constantly be lending a helping hand to the "future" leaders of our community.

We are regestered with CanadaHelps, just search for "Chatham-Kent Children's Services" on their website.
